GET IN TOUCH

Of course! We’ll ‘put the kettle on’ and give you that hard earned cuppa, hot pot and homemade slice of cake served with a smile to ease those tired legs.

At the event briefing we will tell you what time the finish will stay open until. After this time there will the event will be deemed formally closed even if you have not finished. Typically the event will be open from 8am until 6pm.

Ring the emergency services and also our team to let us know the situation and your whereabouts.

Don’t panic! Wait a few minutes and if you don’t see any other cyclists re-trace your route and look for a marker. If you are completely lost ring us – we’re in this with you!

You need to carry spare inner tubes and ideally be competent in changing a tyre. However, sportives are social events and other cyclists are likely to stop and help you get going again. If your bike is no longer rideable, you can ring the Ultra Events team for assistance.

The routes are best cycled on a road bike. It is possible to cycle on hybrids and mountain bikes but may take longer.

The feed stations will provide water, tea and coffee. There will also be homemade cakes, pastries, confectionary and fruit. These ‘essential fuels’ are included in your entry fee.

A system of arrows will mark out the route and indicate direction.

There will be occasional mileage markers to indicate your progress.

After any difficult junctions Ultra events will place a RED X on the off-course roads, this means turn around, you have missed a turn. The map of the route on ridewithgps also has a cue sheet to indicate the correct route. A pre-start briefing will explain this.

For now, our events are not timed and no finishing order is recorded. They are not mass start events either, based around a trickle start approach and do not require road closures. At registration, each entrant will be given a number to be attached to your handle bars for photographs.

Unless otherwise stated the minimum age for entry is 18 years of age. However, riders between 16-18yrs can enter with an adult.

Sportives are long distance organised events. A cycling sportive route usually takes in the most challenging roads in the area, with long, steep climbs and descents, testing all round bike riding skills rather than flat out speed. It’s the cycling equivalent of running a marathon (but not racing the marathon). Whilst our sportive events will be at their most popular in summer, we run events all year round.

Although routes are sign posted and riders are supported along the route, participants are responsible for their own safety and conduct.
